Career & Job Changers

Changing Jobs Isn’t Just a Career Move. It’s a Whole-Life Transition.

Changing jobs can be one of the most empowering things you do in your professional life. But it also tends to hit at the worst possible time. Big changes rarely show up alone. They bring friends.

When I left my former employer to join Moors & Cabot, my wife was eight months pregnant with our second son. Half of our house was under construction. Our water heater was sitting in the backyard, hooked directly to a natural gas line. Ducks had taken up residence in our swimming pool. And I chose that moment—voluntarily—to make a career change.

So yeah. I know how disorienting it can be.

You’re handed a pile of benefit options, insurance comparisons, rollover decisions, and tax forms—and expected to make smart, irreversible choices during a time when just remembering to eat lunch feels like an accomplishment.

Most people get guidance from HR departments or new hire portals, but those aren’t built for you. They’re built to serve the company’s systems. You end up cobbling together advice from multiple sources, and no one is really looking at the full picture of your life and asking, “Does this make sense for you and your family?”

What should you do with your old retirement account? Is the new insurance comparable, or quietly missing something crucial? Do you need to rethink your family’s protection strategy now that your income, job stability, or location has changed?

These aren’t just checkbox items—they’re the thoughts that swirl around at 2 a.m., when the house is quiet but your brain isn’t.

That’s where I come in.

I help people sort through the financial chaos that comes with job transitions—retirement plans, benefit elections, income changes, tax implications—and turn it into a plan that works for your goals, not just the default settings.

And I don’t expect you to walk in with a spreadsheet or a perfect vision of the future. I know what it feels like to juggle career ambition with family chaos and a back-hoe parked in your back yard.

If you’re in the middle of a job change—or thinking about making one—let’s talk. I’ll help you focus on the things that actually matter, answer the questions that don’t come with a FAQ sheet, and make sure this next chapter moves you closer to the life you’re working for.
